"Seductive and Intellectual: The Demon Librarian Miniature Challenging Stereotypes in the Miniature Hobby"
When creating my demon librarian miniature, I wanted to continue to challenge the norms of the miniature hobby by adding another male miniature to my series. To start, I collaborated with a concept artist and gathered references of demons, tieflings, librarians, and comfortable chairs. Our first concept depicted the demon fully clothed, but it didn't quite draw me in. So instead, we added a harness, hoof boots, and hot pants inspired by Rocky Horror Picture Show. We topped it off with glasses and a smirk, and voila! Our sexy demon librarian was born!
The most challenging part of the process was creating a pose that conveyed the character's seductive yet intellectual nature. After some trial and error, we settled on a relaxed pose where the demon librarian sits with his leg over one knee, his arm raised as if shushing the viewer, and a sly smile on his face. I also asked the concept artist to draw him with and without glasses and requested my sculptor to make two heads, so you could choose whichever head appealed to you the most.
The miniature conveys non-threatening male sexuality with its confident and intellectual pose, exuding both intelligence and sex appeal. The body language of the demon librarian is carefully crafted to be neither overpowering nor aggressive. He is an attractive figure, appealing to people of all genders and sexual orientations.
As for my motivation for creating this miniature, I wanted to celebrate diversity and inclusivity in the miniature hobby. I believe that all people should be represented in the things we create and the stories we tell. By making a miniature that appeals to a wide variety of people, I hope to encourage other creators to think outside the box and create more inclusive content.
