What is the Story? (click to find out)
When I started the idea for my line of Shoshie’s Minis, it was due to my dissatisfaction with what was available on the market. Very little has been aimed at women, and it felt like I kept seeing the same themes being recycled over and over again.
There were a few companies out there that were doing nice things, but the kinds of things I wanted to buy still weren’t available or were far and few between.
Over the years, I have talked to different companies and manufacturers about the idea of creating pinups for women. Though the idea seemed genuinely well-received and appreciated, nobody was able to achieve what I thought most women were looking for but a few did come very close.
At a certain point, I realized that to get the vision that I wanted I needed to woman up and do it myself. The more I considered it the more I dreamed about how it could become possible.
And all of that possibility has become a reality today for me to share with you.
The two themes of my first miniature line are male beauty and male emotion. Both of these two elements are rarely seen in the commercial fantasy genre, let alone miniatures. The first miniature to come to mind was a male angel. I wanted provocative male figures but not necessarily sexualized. Within the Fantasy genre, we don’t get to see the male body idealized in the way women want to see them. Conan and He-Man, though muscular and almost always topless, are “male power fantasies.” In other words, what men want to see and want to see themselves as.
I wanted to see something different. I wanted to see the softer side of men, the beautiful sexy side of men, and the divine masculine side of men.
There are so many men out there that I know that are beautiful, kind, and protective, that’s where I wanted to begin, and angels fit that perfectly.
According to lore, angels do not have souls as humans do. My Angel sculpt is caught in that moment of poignancy; recognizing he does not have a soul and grieving the absence of this piece of what makes humans, human.
It is rare to find a male miniature that is both emotionally vulnerable and attractive at the same time. But once this model was sculpted, I knew he was the right way to go.
As the next five models in this series are released, I will be talking about why I choose them and how they fit into the themes of beauty and emotion. I plan on releasing each model individually, and I will also be putting them out as an entire collection after they have all been released. At that point, all produced molds in the series will be retired.
Meanwhile, thank you, and I hope that you will join me to realize my dream!
